Vincent Van Gogh References On The Spring/Summer 2018 Catwalks

Vincent Van Gogh has brush-stroked his way into the cinematic world. The final days of the acclaimed Dutch painter have been brought to life in the world’s first fully-painted feature film – Loving Vincent – a modernist take on his post-impressionist art through immersive animation. Honouring Van Gogh’s intention to humanise the pictorial world, this cinematic creation of over 60,000 hand painted frames is effectively a moving-canvas. And what better way to actively re-imagine post-impressionist art than through fashion? With the spring/summer 2018 shows recently coming to a close in Paris, designers exhibited a shared tactic of code appreciation. But what was their most abstract commonality? Subconscious nods to Vincent Van Gogh. In celebration of the visual landscape of the artist that is currently out in cinemas, Vogue compiles 10 looks from fashion month that have revamped the artist’s singular style.
