Party Planning: The Expert Guide

This Thursday, a fabulous party is taking over the prestigious Albert’s Members Club in South Kensington in honour of a charity close in location and significance to the evening’s hosts. The committee, led by fashion-industry favourites Alexandra Carello and Rosanna Falconer, have organised a night of dinner, dancing and a live auction to raise money and awareness for the Royal Marsden’s new research centre.

“Both of my parents have suffered (and thankfully recovered) from cancer in the last five years,” Falconer told us of becoming involved with the charity. “Since then, I’ve been trying to involve myself as much as possible in cancer charities – whether that’s baking tea for 120 for National Open Gardens or this, my biggest target challenge yet. I have always admired Alex’s work in the industry; when she asked me to get involved I knew our skills would complement each other.”

Of planning the lavish affair alongside their day jobs (Carello is the PR manager at Jimmy Choo and Falconer is business director at Matthew Williamson and cofounder of networking group #FashMash), Carello said that it was a “hard but incredibly rewarding” experience.

“Asking people to spend money is a huge commitment and charity is such a personal thing,” she told us. “Having a committee who is passionate and organised is key, and for organisation I have two words: Shared Googledoc!”
