Wearing leg-lengthening slim-fit leather trousers and a matching shirt with white polo neck underneath, she was a replica of one of the final autumn/winter 2017 catwalk looks, save for her untucked button-up and boots. Instead of the white, steel-capped cowboy boots styled with Simons’s first collection, Kebede kept her Westerns dark, with diamanté spurs on the back.
It’s been quite the week in terms of red-carpet celebrations – Alexa Chung and Kate Bosworth celebrated the launch of the Erdem X H&M collection in LA, Chanel hosted its women’s filmmaker luncheon in Tribeca with Rachel Weisz and Dakota Fanning, and Michael Kors sponsored the God’s Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards with a host of A-list friends – but Kebede wore a look that feels right for now. Layered, yet streamlined, and apt for the changeable weather.
Call us fan girls, but with Simons now only in his second main season for the house, there’s much more to come from the Flemish designer turned New Yorker, and the diverse members of his new 205W39NYC family.
