Inside Alex Gore Browne’s Knitwear Launch

Contrary to what you might have heard, it wasn’t all about Frieze last night in London. In a corner of Isabel’s, Mayfair’s conspicuous restaurant of the moment, designer Alex Gore Browne celebrated her latest collection of knitwear to her name with an intimate dinner. And her guests, who included Laura Bailey, Sheherazade Goldsmith, Tania Fares and Isabel Spearman, paid tribute to their host by wearing her creations.

“It’s quite overwhelming to see,” said Gore Browne as she looked on at the mesmeric array of finely woven ruffles and rosettes that edged the long dinning table. And after dinner, full of the celebratory spirit of the night, the designer, who has made show pieces for Alexander McQueen and worked with Nina Ricci and Matthew Williamson, led her party downstairs to Isabel’s nightclub where her husband Jo Bamford was ready and waiting with many more drinks and a troop of male friends, many of who were (conveniently) married to his wife’s dinner guests.
