8 Ways to Lighten Dark Hands and Feet

Dark hands and feet can be an embarrassing issue because it is presumed to be something which every girl should be shameful of. Although having dark hands and feet is not a serious issue, and it is always possible to brighten them at home.


Several factors behind dark hands and feet include accumulation of dead skin cells, no proper skin care routine, inflammation, chemical factors or hormonal issues. Sometimes, you can observe hands and feet getting dark due to medical conditions as well. Well, here we mention different ways to lighten dark hands and feet.

1. Use ingredients with lactic acid:

Using ingredients which contain high lactic acid can help to whiten the dark hands and feet. Lactic acid is one among the best ingredients which can help to slough off the dead skin cells easily and also promote light-toned hands and feet. You can use yogurt, milk or any other ingredients with lactic acid in order to lighten dark hands and feet. Apply on the dark patches and wash off with cold water.

2. Exfoliate and keep your skin clean:

Another important thing you should always keep in mind is to exfoliate your skin regularly. Exfoliating your skin can help to slough off the dead skin cells and also remove the dirt and dust from the skin. It also prevents your pores from getting clogged thus promote glowing skin. You can use scrub or exfoliating gloves to scrub dark hands and feet.

3. Moisturising is important:

Moisturizing not only helps to keep your skin hydrated but it also helps to keep it bright and clean. Take some hand cream/ body cream and massage your skin with this. Due to high amount of vitamin C present in the citrus fruits, it can help to treat the hyperpigmented patches and also prevents the production of melanin in the skin. You can rub some lemon on the skin to lighten dark areas on the body. Apart from this, using orange peels or fresh papaya pulp can help to lighten dark hands and feet.

7. Using rice water or tofu water:

Another way to lighten dark hands and feet is using rice water. Rice water contains excellent skin lightening agents which can help to slough off the dead skin cells and also give lightening effect. Take some rice water and apply on the feet and hands. Allow it to dry and wash off with cold water. If not rice water, you can use tofu water to get lighter and brighter skin.

8. Using apple cider vinegar:

Using apple cider vinegar is another great way to lighten hands and feet. It contains high amount of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which can help to promote lighter and glowing skin. Take 2 cups of apple cider vinegar and add some water to it. Apply on hands and feet with help of cotton ball. Leave it for some time and wash off with water.
